St. Paul’s Landmark Society Announces $125,000 Gift to Village

Village of Garden City’s newly introduced St. Paul’s landmark option is a municipal preservation framework created to stabilize and protect the nationally registered historic structure. On June 18, 2026, St. Paul’s Landmark Society presented a $125,000 inaugural gift to the Village of Garden City that directly supports the landmark option.

Funding Long-Term Preservation Without the Financial Burden

For decades, despite significant donor interest, proposed solutions for St. Paul’s were structured as massive, all-at-once projects relying strictly on excessive debt and tax hikes. By contrast, the St. Paul’s Landmark Society intends to harness private philanthropy and grants to fund long-term preservation projects. Once stabilized through the St. Paul’s landmark option—a municipal preservation framework created to protect the nationally registered historic structure—the Society will help protect this historic site through these small, manageable projects without adding new debt or financial burdens to Village residents.

As a philanthropic organization, the St. Paul’s Landmark Society has no interest in a managerial or conservancy role with St. Paul’s. Instead, the Society strongly advocates that the St. Paul’s landmark and campus be solely owned and managed by the Village of Garden City.
